Three Visits to Argyle in One Week!
July 29, 2005 – 8:09 pmI’ve gone out to Argyle Winery three times this week! I brought my camera equipment each time, but never got a chance to take photos. Finally, today I took 96 pictures. Here are a few for sharing:
Gorgeous flowers surrounding the main building of the winery.
I followed this bee for a while. He finally held still long enough for a shot.
Birch trees are one of my favorites. I used to peel the bark as a child and write notes on it. I once sent a letter to someone written on birch bark.
I’m not sure what kind of flower this is, but it’s pretty.
The wine house is haunted by a ghost - her name is Lena. The last time I was there, I was sitting alone at a desk and a calculator turned on and started spitting out tape all by itself! The tape had the characters 0*> twelve times in a row. (Maybe Lena had something to do with it! If so, what does 0*> mean?)
This is the Nuthouse - an old hazelnut processing plant that was later turned into part of the winery where wine is made and bottled. Argyle is going to be releasing a new Nuthouse wine in late August. I’m excited!
Here’s the front door of the winery & tasting room.
A south-eastern view of the winery. This building is under re-construction right now. It’s being tripled in space. The tasting room is going to be massive, and gorgeous! I saw the unfinished layout this afternoon and I am quite impressed!
A view of Mt. Hood from the Knudsen vineyard.
Some young grapes hiding in the shade. I tasted one of the grapes… very sour at this point! In a couple months, though, these grapes are going to be some of the best in Oregon!
Staring down one of the rows of vines…
