Beast From 20,000 Fathoms

Oregon photos, Lake Oswego, Mount Hood, Portland, Oregon GardensI watched this old B movie this morning – The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. It was filmed in 1953, at the height of pro-nuke culture. In the beginning of the movie, just as scientists are about to detonate a nuclear bomb over an Arctic ice shelf, one of the scientists turns to his colleague and says something like “Gee Bob, I really feel I’m part of something great testing these bombs up here!”

Well, the bomb awakens a 100 million year-old amphibious dinosaur and sets him on a direct course for New York. Great stop-motion animation of the monster. Other funny moments, like when a psychiatrist tells his patient that he should take the vitamins he’s prescribed. Ha ha! As if!
