BABE RUTH ON BEER

A funny quote…

“Sometimes when I reflect on all the beer I drink, I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn’t drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. I think, ‘It is better to drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.’” – Babe Ruth

2003 ABBOT’S TABLE

Codi pointed this wine out to me while we were shopping at Wild Oats market this evening. It looks amazing, and it got some very, very high reviews. I am going to wait to drink it, but I’m sure it’s going to be memorable.

I took this picture because I think the label is gorgeous. Click the label to see an enlarged image.

ANYONE LOOKING FOR A SUGAR COMA?

This has to be one of the most decadent breakfasts in history!

While shopping at Zupan’s the other day, the checkout lady saw that we were buying Panettone. She said that she overheard someone talking about making Panettone french toast. It sounded like a really good idea, so I made some this morning for myself and for Codi, Laura and my mom.

Whip up 9 eggs, heavy whipping cream, a splash of vanilla extract, a tablespoon of sugar and a tablespoon of cinnamon, plus 1-inch thick slices of Panettone. Soak Panettone in egg batter and then fry like french toast. Top with some butter and a little bit of maple syrup. Eat it all (I had two) and in 5 minutes your stomach will expand, the sugar coma sets in and you can nap for a few hours. Soooo nice…

NIGHT LIGHTS IN LAKE OSWEGO

Codi found this really nice house that has gorgeous Christmas lights. We drove down to the house this evening to take a few photos. The neighbors were a little suspicious, but they kept to themselves.

A car drove by and made this light trail. I really like it.

We then drove to a freeway overpass to take a similar light-trail photo.
